Provident Living

This past week was full of activities which involved learning new skills on self reliance! Thursday, June 23rd we had Quilting Night and Saturday, June 25th we had the Emergency Preparedness Fair. All the activities were well attended and we owe a huge “THANK YOU” to everyone who was involved in the planning, preparation, and for those who attended! We so appreciate your hard work and the service you provide in the ward. We couldn’t have done it without you!!!

If you were unable to attend either of these events, there is hope for you. Please contact Ryan Allred (rpa6@yahoo.com) who has extra handouts from the Emergency Preparedness Fair (Food/Water Storage, 72 hour kits, Family Finances, etc.). If you missed Quilting Night we will be finishing up sewing, pressing (the ironing is not difficult), and arranging the fabric aesthetically (really fun) on July 14th.

This month we would like to share a part of the visiting teaching message: “In Relief Society, we are taught self-reliance principles and skills. Sisters can learn about budgeting, debt relief, employment qualifications, the scriptures and the gospel, teaching others to read and learn, technology, physical health, fitness, addiction prevention and recovery, social and emotional health, preventing illness, gardening, food production and storage, emergency preparedness, and many other things that will help us become self-reliant.”

We all can learn a new skill and focusing on one skill at a time which will help us in our lives. Feel free this month/year to set a goal to work on one area where you feel you would like to improve.
