Meet Stephanie!
Stephanie
and Jacob got married June of 2011 and then moved into the ward. He was already
living in San Diego for school and she moved down once the quarter started.
Jacob is currently studying at the UCSD School of Medicine until he graduates –
2014. Having fallen in love with the area, she would love to stay here for his
residency, but he would rather move closer to family in LA.
Here are a few more tidbits she shares with
us:
What might we find you doing if
you have leisure time on your hands?
If I have leisure time I can be found reading. I love reading
and learning and it is by far my favorite thing to do. My parents set a really
good example for me and my siblings by reading a lot and taking frequent trips
to the library. As a result, I grew up as a bookworm. The last book I read was
over winter break, The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Jacob and I are also
reading Fables, which is an ongoing graphic novel series. I love being in
school cause I get to read and learn for my "job"!
Which temple do you
like best? How many have you visited?
I guess my favorite temple would be the Los Angeles temple,
which is my home temple. I love the Art Deco style architecture and the
beautiful gardens. I've visited the LA and SD temples (obviously!) and I've
also been to the Washington DC temple and the Tokyo, Japan temple.
Do you have a
favorite scripture? Why?
My
favorite scripture is Romans 5:3-5. 3. And not only so, but we glory in
tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience. 4. And patience,
experience; and experience, hope: 5. And hope maketh not ashamed; because the
love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto
us.
I really love this scripture because it is a reminder to me that
we were put on this earth to have trials. By having trials and experiencing
pain and sadness, we can have greater joy and happiness. Trials expand our
emotional boundaries. Trials also remind us of our Heavenly Father and can
bring us closer to him.
Thank you so much for sharing
with us this month! We can’t wait for your return!
