Relief Society Page

Dear Sisters,

Thank you Sallee Mathews for teaching a lesson about Christlike love, service and faith.  Sallee shared the story of the man who was sick of the palsy whose friends tore off the roof of the home the Savior was in and lowered him and his bed into the home to be healed.  This man was blessed to have good friends with great faith.

Next week's lesson will be #36: The Family Can Be Eternal, out of the Gospel Principles Manual.

Happy Birthday this week to Lindsay Rutman (Aug. 15th), Britney Roberge (Aug. 16th), Sydney Davie (Aug. 17th), and Katie Johnson (Aug. 19th)!

A special goodbye to Sister Crystal Ka'aha'aina and family who will be moving out of the ward this week.  Good luck with your new adventures!

We had a WONDERFUL activity this past week.  We learned what amazing opportunities there are online to share the gospel and how there is a great NEED for it as well.  We will dedicate a blog post to it this week, but just in case you don't make it to the blog, click here now for a detailed account of what Sister Skaggs shared with us. It's definitely worth your time!

Also, Brother Jakob Durrant has a great website, www.allaboutmormons.com, where you can contribute and answer questions for those who are desirous to know more.  He gets a lot of questions and needs help answering them!!

Thank you so much Sister Skaggs and Brother Durrant for your presentations.  Amazing!

Other Announcements

Dinner Groups
We have such a big ward and so many new families every year!  We are excited to announce that we will be doing dinner groups.  There was a sign up sheet going around church today and will also go around the next couple of weeks where you have an opportunity to join in on this adventure.

How it works: One family hosts and provides a dessert.  One or two (preferably two) families come as guests and bring a part of the dinner.  You may sign up to be a guest, or a host, or both if you don't mind doing either.  The two dates we have picked out so far for these dinners are September 4th and 11th.  You may indicate on the sign up sheet which day you works for you.  If neither works for you but you are still interested in participating, please sign up and let us know.  This is a trial run and if it is successful, we plan do continue it in the future.

We know that many of our homes are small and don't accommodate large groups and will take that into consideration when putting groups together.  If you would like to sign up immediately, please respond to this email and I will add you to the list.  Let me know if you would like to host or be a guest (or both), and which day works for you (both could also be okay).  Thank you.

Our welcoming committee Chair, Natalie Belnap, is looking to put together a packet for new ward members of good places to eat and fun things to do in San Diego.  You may have seen the sign up sheets going around.  If you have any ideas to contribute to these lists, email Natalie at hutchison.natalie@yahoo.com.
