spiritual smoothies

My Visiting Teaching companion and I were talking with one of the sisters we visit teach about how it almost seemed like conference was trying to prepare us for all that would happen with Proposition 8. There are many talks that can be applied, but one talk was especially powerful to me. Elder Robert D. Hales talked of Christian Courage: The Price of Discipleship. As powerfully applicable as I see this being to Prop 8, at the time of conference this talk meant something very different to me. I was feeling lonely and even ostracized, but made the decision not to wallow in those feelings and instead decided that I would try my best to live "like a true disciple of Christ" and stand by "the Savior by loving others in a tolerant and compassionate way." I am in no way near perfect, but I do believe that we can all become true disciples of Christ and find opportunities in the midst ofopposition.
